A day well spent in Varanashi Farms!

A day well spent in Varanashi Farms!

This is the border region of Karnataka-Kerala states. A walk of about some meters from here will enter the state of Kerala. There is a vast green area to roam around this place. This is the area with rich greenery having forest and plantation which has commercial crops such as arecanut, coconut, cocoa, pepper, fruits like mango, jack fruit etc.,We who always sit between the four walls and listen to lectures, sitting in the labs, etc. got a chance to spend a day in that lush green area! That area is none other than Varanasi Farms located at Adyanadka village on the border of Karnataka-Kerala state!

We had a farm visit program as part of a week-long camp organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college. The purpose of this program is to visit a farm and do a comprehensive study there and spend time in the midst of nature. For this, a farm visit program for my batch was scheduled yesterday (March 24). I reached the college at 8 am yesterday, we left the college at 9 am and reached Adyanadka by bus via BC Road, Kalladka, Vitla. After reaching the farm house we were welcomed by Mr. Partha Varanashi. He briefly explained the work done by his team there. After receiving refreshments our batch members of 100 were divided into 4 teams and each team was given a task. Each team did their jobs very well.

The task given to the team I was in was to sort out the spoiled, unborn, and dry seedlings from the nut seedlings planted in plastic pots. After working for about an hour and a half, my friends and I went to see the farm! Around the farm we went to the high altitude place there. We saw mud houses and camp sites built in the farm. Besides, we took some photos and then had lunch in their canteen in the middle of the forest in the farm, along with delicious organic rice(kaje rice) and vegetable curry, sambar and payasam.

After resting for a while, we were happy to see the tree house there and we climbed the tree to visit tree house while observing the farm again. Then we walked in the middle of the arecanut plantation and got wet in the water sprinkled in the plantation. Then we returned to college from Adyanadka. While coming in the bus, we played many songs and danced to those songs, shot a video for Instagram reel( to watch click here) and returned to college happily.
All in all, we enjoyed spending the day in the midst of nature, enjoying the beauty of nature and enjoying the fresh air!
