 "MINDS"-The Association Day!

This is the biggest engineering college in Dakshina Kannada district! This college is in the list of best engineering colleges in Karnataka! While traveling on the Bangalore Mangalore National Highway, if you look to the left at Adyar, you will see a large campus. This college is none other than our Sahyadri Engineering and Management College, which is on the banks of the sacred Netravati River, lifeline river in Dakshina Kannada, amidst the beauty of nature! Sahyadri means Western Ghat! Literally Western Ghats for students!Just as the Western Ghats are the natural resources of our South India, the source of many rivers, Sahyadri College is a knowledge resource, a temple of education that produces thousands of engineers every year in the field of technology and engineering of India and provides education to thousands of students. It is a great place for students to study because it is situated within beauty of nature! In such a great college, today is "Association Day" of one its departments,i.e., Information Science Engineering and CSE(Data Science). So many programs were conducted all day today! Just like another college day! After joining Sahyadri, this was the first program I enjoyed a lot in participating!

About this program, the head of the department, Dr. Mustafa Bastikodi Sir had earlier given information in the orientation program while we just joined the department! I was already sitting there excited! Then when my mentor Mr. Rithesh Pakkala sir asked me to find a name related to the first letter of the name of the association, I was happy and excited! Then yesterday when the invitation card of the program was shared in our class whatsapp group it had the names of some of the guests. One was a saxophone artist, who made a name in the music world at the national level, while the other is a program analysts working in giant company called Boeing, who made a name in the field of sports at the national level. My curiosity was piqued!A dress code was also givenfor us. So to stay disciplined I bought a new shirt. How excited should I be after all this preparation? Finally the day came!

I left Puttur early in the morning and came to college! After going to the class and taking attendance at the beginning, the lecturer said to the hall. The program which started as a stage program became more awesome with student's participation! The chief guests of the program were Anjali Shanubhogue, a famous saxophone artist who has made a name in the music field at the national level and Shreya N Kottary, an alumnus of Sahyadri College, who has made a name in the field of sports at the national level, and who is currently program analyst in a giant company called Boeing. Besides, the main pillar of the college, the principal of our college. Dr Rajesha sir, our department leader,HOD Dr. Mustafa Bastikodi Sir, Faculty Coordinator, Assistant Professor, My mentor Mr. Rithesh Pakkala Sir,Mr. Madhur S Rai, the new vice-president of the association, Vivek T M, the secretary, were the guests in the program. At the beginning of the program, the logo of the association was unveiled. The logo unveiling video had me in awe!

The welcome address of the program was delivered by Mr. Ritesh Pakkala Sir, Faculty Coordinator of the Association. Then the chief guest, Anjali Shanubhogue delivered her speech and encouraged us. Introductory words of the program were spoken by the head of the department, the president of the association, Dr. Sir Mustafa Bastikodi. He also adminstered the oath to new office bearers of the association . Then another chief guest, Shreya N Kottary, who is also senior student of our college, spoke to the students reliving the memories of her college days.

After the stage program there was a saxophone program by Anjali Shanubhogue. Here saxophone rendition had made everyone in the audience swaying to the music! Finally, after the request of the students, on a special request, she played the verse "Varaha Rupam" from the divine-blockbuster movie "Kantara".This made everyone present listen with rapt attention and was applauded by them! After lunch there was a procession with chende from near the Mech-Tech garage in our college campus to the auditorium.I enjoyed it a lot and I danced with my friends during this program!

Then the next program was chende-violin jugalbandi near the college canteen! How are these related to each other? Could you guess? Many of the verses were brought out brilliantly by Sreejith's violin playing and SBBK Chende's ensemble with Assistant professor Ms. Jayapadmini mam's song!Students danced and cheered during this program! Amidst this, the arrival of our former Head of Department, Mr. Shamanth Rai Sir, added to the excitement of the program, adding to the students' joy! After that, another round of violin-chende jugalbandi program held in the auditorium, a cultural program was performed by the students of each year class of the department.

Finally the trending "Byla" program was conducted which students had been waiting for! All the gathered students danced and cheered for many songs! I didn't know how the time passed! All in all, today's event was a success and was appreciated by all. I enjoyed it very much! There was no energy left with me after program ,to that extent I was dancing and celebrating with my friends!

I would like to thank the management of the college, the principal, who gave permission to organize this program. I must especially thank my mentor Mr. Rithesh Pakkala sir! He encouraged me to write this article! He was happy to see my writing skills and asked me to write about this program as well. He is directly and indirectly responsible for many of my growths. So I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my mentor Mr. Rithesh Pakkala sir.

I hope that such programs will be held in the college to refresh the students who get bored being in classroom listening lectures and lab lessons every day.
