Keerthiprasad-A young man who achieved a lot in his early age!

There is a pronoun in Kannada language, "ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಸಿರಿ ಮೊಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ". Why I mentioned here is, this suits for one person whom I am going to introduce in this article. He is Keerthiprasad Kalluraya from Madhuru in Kasaragod situated in Kerala, our neighboring state. At just 19 years old, he has achieved so much through his hard work and dedication! Currently pursuing engineering studies, he is also big fan of Yakshagana. He has served as a "Brahmavahaka" in various festival of temples and has dedicated himself to the service of God.

 Perfomance in Yakshagana:

In addition to his mastery of Yakshagana (a traditional Indian dance drama form), he has also learned the art of Yakshagana at a young age from his father Shri Udaya Kalluraya. At the age of just 5, Keerthiprasad began perfoming Yakshagana with "Kireeta Bala Vesha". Later, he learnt "Yakshagana Natya" from Shri Rakesh Rai Adka, a renowned Yakshagana guru and famous Yakshagana artist. At the age of 11,he started performing in various Yakshagana Bayalatas including famous Mahishasura character which comes in "Shri Devi Mahathme" story. He learnt "Yakshagana Himmela" from his father itself and later from Shri Raghava Ballal who was serving in Kateel Mela.

As Brahmavahaka:

He started serving at Thalaklayi Shri Subrahmanya Temple in Kasargod last year during the Champashashti Mahotsav and is practicing nrutya under Shri Upendra Aggittaya Trikannad with the support of Shri Krishnaprasad Adiga Muttatthody. He has already served as Brahmavahaka in several temple festivals of Kasaragod and Dakshina Kannada districts. On the occasion of Mahashivaratri this year, he served as Brahmavahaka in the famous Trikannad Sri Trimbakeswara Temple. His family members who have traditionally been serving in the Madhuru Shri Madanantheshwara Siddhivinayaka temple since his grandfather's time are still serving the diety there. He always reminds his teachers and parents for his achievement.

Apart from Yakshagana, he has achieved in science field as well and participated in the National Science Fair held in Rajasthan by Bharatiya Vidyaniketan. He is very interested in aviation and dreams of becoming a pilot.

An alumnus of Vivekananda PU College, Puttur, he is currently studying engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Adyar, Mangalore. He is also my close friend. I pray to Madhuru Shri Madananteswara Siddhivinayak God and Kateelu Sri Durgaparameshwari Amma to give more strength to achieve more, fulfill his dream and rise to the top.
