Damayana-Tale of Dude Damodara!
For the past several days, the word that has been heard all over coastal Karnataka and even in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts is this: "Have you seen Damayana? How is the movie?What's the story? Isn't it the movie made by the people of our hometown?"
Yes! Damayana is a movie made by our local talents! This movie tells the story of Dude Damodar. The most parts of the movie was shot in our Puttur. This is the movie which is currently running in the third week after successfully completing its second week despite the popularity of newly released films like "Hostel Boys Bekagiddare, Oppenheimer".
The movie Damayana tells about a man who grew up in a village and does not know the life of the city, finds a job and comes to the city, is cheated in the name of work and money and suffers. A good message is conveyed by the director excellently in this movie with comedy.
The hero of the story is Damodar. A village boy. He is unemployed. After choosing a job, he came to the town but could not find any work, and the life he leads can be seen in this movie. There is humor in most part of the movie. This definitely cannot make every viewer who watches the movie be bored.From a small role to the protagonist, the acting by each actor has been done very well. Very simple costumes, everyone's natural acting heightens the value of this movie. The simple life of village people can be seen very well in this movie.
Talking about the movie, in the movies I have seen after Kantara, I have seen such simple costumes and natural acting of the characters in the movie Damayana. People from our surrounding area used to go to the theater with their families to see Kantara. Similarly, they are going to see Damayana with their families.The direction of the movie is very well done by Shreemukha who played the role of director and hero Damodar. His first directorial debut, although he has no experience, it is not known in the movie. This movie is like a movie made by an experienced and good director. What I liked the most in acting was Adithya BK's acting who played the role of Vinayaka. Vinayaka is a priest. Adithya's costume and acting like a priest, are of course excellent.The main attraction of the movie is Shreemukha who played the role of Damodar. How Damodar looks like, all of his nature has been shown and acted by Shreemukha very well. I felt that it would have been better if there were a little more emotion in the acting of Damodar's role, especially when there were some emotional situations. That's what my mother said. Other than hero, actors like Anagha Bhat played the role of Vidya, the heroine of the story, Venkatarama Bhat who played the role of Damodar's father, Dr.Pratibha Rai, who plated role of Damodara's mother, actor who came in search of work like Damodar and got arrested as a pickpocket and later released from jail and became tea seller, great artist of Yakshagana, "Hasya Brahma" Peruvodi Narayana Bhat who played the role of an old daily newspaper seller and all the other actors have acted very well.For those who have not seen many movies or those who watch the movie after a long time, they cannot feel that actors are acting for the first time. The songs, music, background vocals of the movie are well directed by music director Keerthan Balila. What I like the most in the movie is to listen to Mangaluru Kannada accent!Listening to our Mangaluru Kannada is a pleasure. Mangaluru Kannada's beauty is different. In this movie, we can see all the special words we use in Mangaluru Kannada (I think you guessed it!), the words and style used by parents when they scold their children! Those are all words we use! So, it's very funny to watch and listen! The story of the movie is interesting.It keeps the viewer curious about what will happen next. Some of the twists and turns leave the viewer not getting bored at all. The last scene of the movie is also well made. Overall, Damayana is a good movie to watch with family. This is a hit movie. All our support is enough to make it a hit movie!
Probably the Kannada movie that was shot in Puttur, except for the movie "Kanasu Kannu Theredaga" which was released in 2015, should be Damayana. There is no doubt that this movie which is produced and made by locals and newcomers has created a buzz in the Kannada film industry. Kannada films get released on OTT within a few months of their theatrical release. Similarly, I wish Damayana should be released in OTT and watch it again in OTT. If you haven't seen the movie,then go and watch the tale of Damodara at the nearest theater!
At last I wish that the film Damayana becomes a super hit, the film team gets more success and it gets released in OTT and be trending there also.
