 A day well spent in Varanashi Farms!   This is the border region of Karnataka-Kerala states. A walk of about some meters from here will enter the state of Kerala. There is a vast green area to roam around this place. This is the area with rich greenery having forest and plantation which has commercial crops such as arecanut, coconut, cocoa,pepper, fruits like mango, jack fruit etc.,We who always sit between the four walls and listen to lectures,sitting in the labs, etc. got a chance to spend a day in that lush green area! That area is none other than Varanasi Farms located at Adyanadka village on the border of Karnataka-Kerala state!   We had a farm visit program as part of a week-long camp organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college.   ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ನಡುವೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನ! ಅದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ-ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಗಡಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗಿದರೆ ನೀವು ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಲು ಹಚ್ಚಹಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಒಂದು ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಪ್ರದೇಶ. ಅಡಿಕೆ,ತೆಂಗು,ಕೊಕ್ಕೊ,ಮಾವು,ಹಲಸು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಕೃಷಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಗಿಡ-ಮರಗಳು,ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮರಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಸಮೃದ್ಧ ಪ್ರದೇಶ. ಸದಾ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಗೋಡೆಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಕೂತು ಪಾಠ ಕೇಳುವುದು,ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ನಮಗೆ ಆ ಹಚ್ಚಹಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಕಳೆಯುವ ಸದಾವಕಾಶ! ಆ ಪ್ರದೇಶವೇ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ-ಕೇರಳ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಗಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಡ್ಯನಡ್ಕ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ವಾರಣಾಸಿ ಫಾರ್ಮ್ಸ್!   ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟೀಯ ಸೇವಾ ಯೋಜನೆ(ಎನ್.ಎಸ್.ಎಸ್) ಘಟಕದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ನಡೆದ ಒಂದು ವಾರದ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಿನ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಫಾರ್ಮ್ ಭೇಟಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಿತ್ತು. ಒಂದು ಫಾರ್ಮಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿ,ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ನಡುವೆ ಕಾಲ ಕಳೆಯುವುದು ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಉದ್ದೇಶ. ಇದರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ನನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಚಿಗೆ ಫಾರ್ಮ್ ಭೇಟಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನೆಯ(ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 24) ದಿನದಂದು ನಿಗದಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ನಿನ್ನೆ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 8 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದ ನಾನು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 9 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಬಿಸಿ ರೋಡ್,ಕಲ್ಲಡ್ಕ,ವಿಟ್ಲ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಬಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಜಾ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅಡ್ಯನಡ್ಕ ...

  A day spent well in Hosabettu Beach!  The western part of Karnataka is famous for its coastline. So instead of calling it West Karnataka, it is more called Coastal Karnataka. The beautiful beaches, the temples, the cuisine, the food are all world famous. I spent this morning with my college friends and my teacher at a place called Hosabettu in this beautiful coastal area!  The National Service Scheme (NSS) camp is going on in the college for the last 5 days. As a part of this, a cleanliness program was held today at Hosabettu beach in the joint association of NSS Unit, Sahyadri Engineering and Management College and Swachh Surathkal team.I was very excited to reach college at 6 am.   ಹೊಸಬೆಟ್ಟು ಕಡಲ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಜಾನೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ!   ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಭಾಗವು ತನ್ನ ಕರಾವಳಿ ತೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಖ್ಯಾತಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುವ ಬದಲು ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವೆಂದೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕರೆಯುವುದು. ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕಡಲ ತೀರಗಳು,ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳು,ಆಹಾರ ಪದ್ಧತಿ,ಖಾದ್ಯಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ವಿಶ್ವ ವಿಖ್ಯಾತಿ. ಈ ಸುಂದರ ಕರಾವಳಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಹೊಸಬೆಟ್ಟು ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದಿನ ಮುಂಜಾನೆಯ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು,ನನ್ನ ಗುರುಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕಳೆದೆ!   ಕಳೆದ 5 ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸೇವಾ ಯೋಜನೆ(ಎನ್.ಎಸ್.ಎಸ್) ಕ್ಯಾಂಪ್ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಎನ್.ಎಸ್.ಎಸ್ ಘಟಕ, ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮ್ಯಾನೇಜ್‌ಮೆಂಟ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಹಾಗು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ತಂಡದ ಜಂಟಿ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸಬೆಟ್ಟು ಕಡಲ ತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಮುಂಜಾನೆ 6 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ತಲುಪಿದ ನಾನು ಬಹಳ ಉತ್ಸುಕನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ. ಪರಿಸರವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛವಾಗಿಸುವ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೊರಟಿರುವ ಖುಷಿ! ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 7 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಹೊಸಬೆಟ್ಟು ಸರಕಾರಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆ ವಠಾರಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಿದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛ ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ನಮಗೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿದರು. 200 ಜನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ...
